Ingredients
  

  • 2 cans crushed tomatoes 800g total
  • 1 whole head garlic minced
  • 1 large onion finely diced
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper generously
  • Fresh basil handful

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Heat olive oil in large heavy pot over medium heat
  2. Step 2: Add onion cook 5 minutes until soft and golden
  3. Step 3: Add garlic cook 2 minutes stirring frequently until fragrant and golden
  4. Step 4: Add crushed tomatoes Italian seasoning sugar salt and pepper
  5. Step 5: Stir everything together increase heat to bring to simmer
  6. Step 6: Reduce heat to low simmer 20 minutes stirring occasionally until sauce deepens in color and flavor
  7. Step 7: Taste and adjust seasoning generously
  8. Step 8: Stir in fresh basil let cool completely before storing in airtight containers up to 5 days in fridge or 3 months in freezer
