- Step 1: Cook spaghetti in heavily salted boiling water per package instructions
- Step 2: While pasta cooks heat olive oil over high heat in large heavy pan
- Step 3: Add onion cook 3 minutes stirring constantly until soft
- Step 4: Add garlic and tomato paste cook 1 minute stirring constantly until paste darkens slightly
- Step 5: Add ground beef break apart cook over high heat 5 minutes until browned
- Step 6: Add crushed tomatoes Worcestershire sauce Italian seasoning sugar salt and pepper
- Step 7: Simmer over medium high heat 8 minutes stirring occasionally until sauce thickens and deepens in color
- Step 8: Taste and adjust seasoning generously
- Step 9: Drain spaghetti serve sauce over top with parmesan and fresh basil
